The UC San Diego Heritage Vietnamese Program hosted an interactive virtual event featuring guest artist Linh Luong for students in the advanced Vietnamese language class. Titled “100 THREADS OF VIETNAM: A conversation with artist Linh Luong,” the session provided students with an opportunity to explore cultural identity and artistic expression through Vietnamese language immersion.
Centered around the theme 100 THREADS – 100 STORIES – 100 CONNECTIONS, the event bridged classroom learning with contemporary artistic practice. Key highlights of the conversation included:
- Creative Journey & Inspiration: An exploration of Linh Luong’s artistic path, creative process, and inspirations.
- Art & Cultural Identity: Discussions on how visual art serves as a powerful medium for reflecting and preserving heritage.
- Live Q&A: An interactive segment allowing students to engage directly with the artist and ask questions in Vietnamese.
Conducted in Vietnamese, this guest speaker session offered advanced heritage language students a practical environment to enhance their vocabulary and deepen their connection to Vietnamese culture.
